This past Saturday, Hill Close was alive with the sounds of laughter, conversation, and the occasional clanging of metal chairs as the Health Fair took over the neighborhood. With a staggering 6222 residents, our community showed up in droves to learn more about health, wellness, and the importance of staying active as we age. The Corner Station provided delicious, healthy snacks to keep everyone fueled up for the day’s activities.
Among the vibrant atmosphere, two local legends, Michelle Andrews, 85, and Kieran Bradshaw, 88, were seen sharing their thoughts on what it takes to stay happy and healthy as the years go by. Michelle, a beloved grandmother known for her sage advice and a knack for baking the best apple pie in the neighborhood, said, “You know, it’s not just about what you eat. It’s about who you’re with. Good company can make a broccoli taste like cake!”
Kieran, often seen at the local park feeding pigeons, chimed in with his laid-back wisdom, “Life is like a river; sometimes you just have to go with the flow. And if that flow leads you to a good cup of tea, even better!” His relaxed demeanor certainly resonated with many attendees, who found themselves nodding in agreement.
The Health Fair offered a variety of workshops ranging from yoga for seniors to cooking demonstrations that featured heart-healthy recipes. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with local health professionals who encouraged everyone to make small changes for big impacts.
As the event wrapped up, many were spotted heading to the Corner Station for one last treat, proving that even the healthiest of fairs can end with a little indulgence. It seems that in our community, a balanced life is about more than just kale and quinoa—it’s also about connection, laughter, and the occasional slice of cake.
As the sun set over Hill Close, the general consensus was clear: age is just a number, and with the right mindset, laughter, and community support, there’s no limit to how vibrant life can be. This year’s Health Fair may have concluded, but the conversations and connections made will surely continue long after the last chair has been put away. Cheers to good health, great company, and even better pie!
